De Bussy Saumur Brut

DB.JPG

De Bussy: composer of “Clair de Lune” or Brut Cremant?

This sparkling is named after the famed composer and his enchanting song. It is from Saumur, Loire Valley, France and likely made from Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay grapes using the traditional Champagne method. It is made in 15th century medieval underground cellars and, “After the 2nd fermentation in bottle the wine ages for a minimum of 12 months on the lees.”

This wine is medium yellow and tastes like toasty brioche and fresh grapefruit. It is tart and brut with a long, savory finish. It is well balanced and flavorful but not overwhelming. Enchanting like the song.
