Quinta Das Carvalhas Duoro

C.jpg

Quinta Das Carvalhas Duoro is a red blend from Portugal. This hearty wine is made up of 60% touriga nacional, 20% touriga franca and 20% tints roriz. It is a gorgeous deep purple, but because of the high tannin, it turned my teeth very blue. To avoid this coloration, this wine is best enjoyed with a heavy winter dinner. This Carvalhas is mineral, earthy and dry. It has a long finish. It was slightly floral when chilled.

The back of this label was very informative! It shows that the wine was aged 12 months in oak barrels and advises decanting and pairings.

Carvalhas is about $15 at Total Wine.
