Austin Winery Tempranillo Nuevo

Let’s get into another unique Texas wine!

Tempranillo Nuevo is made by The Austin Winery with grapes from Dutton Vineyard in the Texas High Plains. Why do those details matter? Generally, the more precise a location listed on the bottle, the better quality of grapes! They’re so proud of the single source of the grapes that they take up precious label space to mention it.

This wine is pale ruby and slightly translucent. It was made in 2020, hence the distinction of Tempranillo NUEVO (new). It smells and tastes like fresh, tart cherry juice. It’s mouthwatering high acidity is matched by hints of graphite and pencil shavings. I love a local wine that tastes like fruit and mountains! What could be better?
